My bias will show a bit here.
Yes - it's good to go to events to meet potential team members, mentors, investors, etc. Just remember - as an early stage entrepreneur, your biggest job is to validate your business model. You have to prove that your business is indeed a business. No investor or mentor can do that for you.
In fact- they may tell you it's not a business - and they may be wrong.
To validate your business model, you have to "get out of the building" and talk to customers and partners. Not mentors, investors and other entrepreneurs. Once you talk to your customers, you'll know more about your business' potential than the mentors, investors, and other entrepreneurs. Always take their advice with a grain of salt!
